Book is total propaganda and should be treated as fiction if not toilet paper.
On the surface, the United Nations and the "globalist" agenda of making this world a better place seems like a righteous and worthy cause. However, when one looks under the surface and see the inner workings of the UN and the "non-government organizations" (or NGOs) that exert great influence within the UN, one gets an entirely new perspective.
Joseph Klein looks deep under the surface of the UN and the globalists agendas of global taxation, wealth redistribution, and a world court system. Mr. Klein's new book, "Global Deception" is a wake up call to all of us to take notice of what is happening within the UN, and the UN bias against the United States.
Mr. Klein starts with a brief history of the UN and UN's Charter. He then shows how special interest NGOs and influential, non-elected "elitists" are taking the UN far beyond the original charter of international cooperation between sovereign nations and trying to turn it into a Global Government. One of the first casualties of this movement is the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights. We already see the influence of these special interests in our judiciary system when judges cite "international norms" in their rulings. Who decides what these "international norms" are? Special interest groups and the "elitists" with great influence, that's who. The UN wants to levy taxes (usually disguised as fees and fines) on citizens and corporations to raise money to further its agenda and redistribute wealth around the globe. We (the United States) fought a war over taxation without representation! Why would we allow a global government to levy taxes on our citizens?
"Global Deception" is a must read for all Americans to see the inner workings of the UN and understand how the UN is trying to deprive the us of "every freedom which the Founding Fathers labored to write into the Constitution."
I would probably give this about 3.5 due to it's bias, but it isn't to be totally discredited. The book raises some excellent points about the gross mismanagement of UN projects and failure to act at crucial times. Some solid arguments include the UN's intentions of disproportionately taxing the US for its violation of "green" initiatives, invasive taxation for widely used commodities (such as the internet), allocation of funds to dead-end projects, prior knowledge of the Rwandan genocide, acting outside the boundaries of the UN Charter, and the absence of real attempts at reform in destitute nations. He highlights some of the hypocritical aspects of UN, such as excessive salaries and benefits for bureaucrats, the holding of conferences in tropical locations, and expensive, catered meals at food shortage conferences.
However, I disagree with the author's perspective on President Bush, which seems to severely cloud his judgment. An example of this would be championing him as a benevolent liberator of the Iraqi people, actually proclaiming that these were Bush's intentions. He also viewed Bush as a safeguard between UN totalitarianism and US sovereignty. True, the UN is attempting to become a supranational authority, but the PATRIOT Act and costly, never ending wars are currently a bigger threat. Overall though, the book presents many unbiased facts that aim to expose the deceptive nature of the UN.
In this disturbing book, the author reveals the devious agendas of the United Nations and its allies that include a host of non-governmental organizations, eccentric billionaires, academics, special interest groups and political elites in certain member states. This bizarre coalition also contains environmentalists, self-styled human rights activists, anti-capitalists, celebrities, peaceniks and various types of what can only be described as New Agers.
Klein describes them as an international network of influence peddlers acting on behalf of leftist causes. They intend to turn the UN into a world governing body with powers to enforce a hazy and shady agenda. Not all NGO's should be tarred with the same brush, but amongst the most notorious of those that do form part of this sinister coalition are Amnesty International, Greenpeace and many pro-abortion organizations. These so-called transnational progressives want to undermine national sovereignty by establishing international institutions filled with fanatical parasites like themselves.
Their agendas encompass global economic redistribution, the sole right to initiate military action, universal gun control, global taxes, labor legislation, housing, an international criminal court and much, much more. These groups were behind the ridiculous Kyoto farce and the even more risible Earth Charter.
The author also examines the UN itself and comes to the conclusion that it is a bloated, corrupt bureaucracy that is highly resistant to reform or accountability. After the Oil For Food scam - the biggest fraud in history - and the UN's failure to prevent tragedies like the Rwandan genocide and the one still unfolding in Darfur, it does not have a shred of moral legitimacy left. It goes even beyond unaccountability, since neglect of duty is often rewarded with promotion as in the case of Kofi Annan who had the power but failed to prevent the mass murder in Rwanda. Quite rightly, the author labels the UN a playground for international terrorists.
The major goal is to undermine the sovereignty of the United States by enmeshing it in a mire of international protocols and treaties, following which federal judges are to insert certain vaguely defined international norms into the country's legal system in order to supplant the constitution. Klein does not recommend a US pullout from the UN, as he believes that the organization can still be reformed, although admittedly this will not be an easy task. Some of the revelations in this book are quite astonishing but they are all meticulously documented in the extensive and verifiable source notes that provide plenty of material for further study.
For further shocking revelations about this evil organization and the self-appointed, unelected global elites that infest and manipulate it, I also recommend Tower Of Babble by Dore Gold, The UN Gang by Pedro Sanjuan, The UN Exposed by Eric Shawn, Inside The Asylum by Jed Babbin and Nations United How the United Nations Undermines Israel and the West by Alex Grobman.
